Getting Started
Collecting the information needed to create an accurate T-SIM Press Template can be challenging at times. Because of this we've created resources to help you navigate this process. These are included in the Press Information Package 2024.
Please download the zip file attached at the bottom of this article (Press Information Package 2024.zip)
The information required before creating a T-SIM press template:
1- Press-Transfer Information Sheet.xls -This is
all the basic info for the press and transfer system. Dimensions/measurements
and capabilities.
a.
Refer to the “Press Transfer Glossary of Terms” in the knowledge base for definitions of each variable.
2- The Ram Timing Curve – Minimum of one of these
three will do:
a.
If press is eccentric motion (not a link
motion), if you can provide the connecting rod length and the press stroke, we
can determine the slide timing accurately. (Ideal for servo presses)
b.
Slide position versus crank angle in Excel
format is preferred, but if you have a clean image like Sample slide timing
diagram.pdf, that should also be sufficient.
c.
If you do not have a slide timing curve, you can
get that info manually using the Manual Slide Timing Worksheet in the resources.
3- Transfer system capabilities - one of the following
- Manufacturer specs ( showing travel limits, acceleration and velocity limits) OR
- 3-5 sample recipes of jobs running in the press. Refer to attached “Existing Tool Recipe Collection Process.pdf". With each recipe also include the actual SPM production
rate (what you actually run the press at) and any additional information as to
why you are only running the press at the specified rate. i.e. The control says
18 but we only run at 15 because the bar shakes or we get sensor faults.
4- If you can answer YES to any of the below questions, please include additional details
a.
Are
there any restrictions in the side window or press columns that could cause
issues with transfer (Counter balance cylinder, brackets, etc.)?
b.
Are there any limitations in the front of line,
mid-line or end of line that may prevent a die from entering production, such
as fixed height conveyors, blank nests, exit windows, servo shuttles,
wiring/air-lines, destackers/robot arms, etc.?
c.
Could your park brackets interfere with the transfer
bars during production? If so, please include the bar park positions.
5- Please complete and return the attached customer
intake form (Facility Preferences Audit Sheet 2024.pdf)
Please note: An accurate press template is what allows T-SIM
to maximize your production rates and create plug and play settings (setup
sheets). The more information you provide to us, the better your initial
results from simulation.
Feel free to include any additional reference materials for your
equipment such as:
·

· Pictures of the Press Controller (input screens,
user interface, job setup screen, etc.)
